great black and white photographers, PART 2

Ralph Eugene Meatyard was born in Normal, Illinois 1925 and
passed in 1972. His main subject in his photos were children, mainly
because he was a father and wanted to remember his childrens childhood. He would put this children in a ruin to make a story of the photo. The kids would be in an adult world as he would call it. Meatyard would use masks and even two children as subjects just make them face different ways.

The Rule of Thirds

This photo was an example of the rule of thirds because
you have the men off center
and the cars off center creating a mix of objects.

Simplicity

Where the attention is most focused is at the
top of the building where the flames are.

Mergers

The tree in this picture looks as if i would be growing
from the mans head. This makes it look funny.

lines

The lines in this picture give it a more dynamic feeling.

Frame

In this picture the people are making a frame around
the flag. Keeping the flag the point of interest in this photo.

Balance

In this photo The bird, men, and woman make
the picture balanced by forming a triangle shape.
With the birds wings out it makes it seem as
if the people were connected.

The Camera

  • parallax- which occurs when the viewfinder or viewing lens is separated from the taking lens.
  • pentaprism- a prism that has five faces, a pair of which are at 90° to each other; a ray entering one of the pair emerges from the other at an angle of 90° to its original direction: used esp. in single-lens reflex cameras to reverse images laterally and reflect them to the viewfinder.
  • photographer- a person who takes photographs, esp. one who practices photography professionally.
  • subsequently- occurring or coming later or after.
  • aperture- an opening, as a hole, slit, crack, gap, etc
  • shutter- a solid or louvered movable cover for a window
  • exposure- the act of exposing.
  • depth of field- the range of distances along the axis of an optical instrument, usually a camera lens, through which an object will produce a relatively distinct image.
  • F-stop-the setting of an adjustable lens aperture, as indicated by an f number.
  • focal length-the distance from a focal point of a lens or mirror to the corresponding principal plane.

Pinhole Cameras

This picture has a girl that seems to be looking up but in motion. The tower in the back ground is what is in focus and the girl is out of focus. No this image is not wraped.

There is not action or person in the photo. The Building is what is in focus. The outer corners are out of focus. There is no wrap in this photo.

My First Photos

This picture has been one of my least favorite the focous is not on her but rather then crowd. She looks to blury will the crowd, which i wasnt trying to focous on them, look clear. The lighting in this photo is also to dark.

This picture has to be one of my favorites. She stands out of the room and has a shadow around her. Will catching her in action it gives her body language an amusing and intrestind position. The lighting seems to be darker around her.
