I think the most powerful image from the slide show is when Ian returns back from
the war and is greeted by his friend Cody after arriving at his sister's friends house
from dinner and a movie. Its shows that his friends actually missed him and were
glad to see him back.
The most powerful sequence for me has to be the signing up one.
It shows him and his family getting ready for him to leave and
possible not come back.
The images show him preparing step by step to leave
saying "goodbye for now" and also all the paper work
that come with enrolling. He gets information and
finishes his high school career and enters his adult life.
When Ian is the main subject in the photo the verds on the caption are usually written in pass tense.
The captions give the photo a story or background information. It tells you what you
see in the photo but also what has and may happen
Ian and his pal Bob are celebrating his last couple of day before leaving to Iraq with a couple of beers. Surrounded by friends at his sisters house they enjoy each others company. Ian is bittersweet about leaving he knows he will be missed and miss a lot of them to but his heart is in the right place.
After a long day of drilling and training for Iraq Ian's troops members and him return back to base and prepare for shut eye.
Ian hangs his t-shirt made by Kristen his girlfriend by a mirror were he looks at it every day and night. It reminds him that he has to go back home and for what people he is fighting for.
The features in the video make it seem more like a time line and a story of Ian's life. The text shows where and what is going on by giving each sequence a title. He's friends and family give their opinion and their look on Ian going to the army.
The video shows interviews from people in the photographs and his family.
The photos are able to capture a moment in time unlike photos that are continues.
